slow down and savor

Hey, guys! My name is Katie Ogletree, and I’m the girl behind the blog here at Slow Down and Savor. While Slow Down and Savor may sound like a really cool name for a blog, it’s actually a concept that I try desperately to live out in my busy life. I’m a wife, a mom to two wonderful and lively boys, one is 8 and the other is 2. I’m an avid lover of food, photography, makeup, and my fuzzy little kitties, Karen, Marcus and Chelsea.

When I’m not cooking, eating or blogging, you can find me scouring the Internet for amazing new recipes, and helpful articles to share with you on Facebook. I also can’t stop devouring YouTube makeup tutorials, practicing what I learned from those videos on my own face, and then doing it over and over and over again. I also find myself snuggling with my kitties quite a bit, and yeah, I may be addicted to crime related TV shows like NCIS, Law & Order SVU, Getting Away With Murder, The Blacklist and The Following, and The Path. I also can’t get enough of The Kardashians, Teen Mom 2 or Teen Mom OG. What can I say?

I absolutely love living in our neck of the woods in Baltimore, MD, and enjoy everything that our AMAZING neighborhood of Federal Hill has to offer, which is A LOT. There’s always something to do and something to enjoy! Plus, there’s tons of great food. From delicious “American” and Italian to gourmet street food and fancy-shmancy white tablecloth establishments, I know where to go, and what to get. Get me in the kitchen, though, and I’ll whip up something both delicious and nutritious, because getting dinner on the table every night is a goal and a pleasure for my family and me.

Slow Down and Savor isn’t just your every day food blog, though. Yes, you can find amazing recipes and informative and honest restaurant reviews, but you can also follow along with me on what was my amazing journey of pregnancy and mommy-hood.

Some other fun things you’ll find here on Slow Down and Savor: Product reviews!!! I love reviewing new (and sometimes just new-to-me stuff) and interesting products we find. Mostly, I love providing educated information to people who are maybe looking to purchase something for themselves.

By sharing my experiences with food, whether at the eateries I visit or giving you a peek into the fun I have in the kitchen, I hope that something you read sparks your interest into taking the leap to go somewhere new or become a daring cook and whip up a dish you never thought you could.

I also hope that my product reviews lead you in the right direction and make you more of an educated consumer of kitchen and beauty products as well as any other products I receive!

Basically, my hope is that you use SD&S as a launch pad in creating new experiences of your own. I hope my fun with food and products lead you to creating your own memories.

Advertising & PR:  I am open to advertisers, product reviews, giveaways, and promotions. When I write & publish content for this blog, I hold myself to a high standard of brutal honesty. I will review your product, and if I don’t like it, I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you why I don’t, and what about it could be better. If I like it, however, I’ll scream it from the rooftops of my blog, and make sure everyone knows about it. I will not endorse any product I don’t truly use or enjoy, or is not in keeping with what my blog is all about: Experiences and adventures, both in and out of the kitchen, beauty products, or pregnancy/baby related products.

  1. Great site, Katie! Glad to be following you from sunny South Florida. As a boy, I made a lot of visits to my grandparents who lived in the Texas Hill Country. Lots of fond memories climbing the dusty, rocky hills with my dad and grilling fresh sausages over an open fire at night. My brother lives in San marcos currently. In the words of Wolfgang Puck: Live, Love, Eat!

    1. Thank you so much, Larry! I can almost imagine what it must have been like as a kiddo under these big Texas skies enjoying a good old fashioned cook out. That’s cool about your bro in SMTX. I live only about 20 minutes from there, and am a Bobcat myself! Thanks again for stopping by, and look forward to hearing more from you in FLA!
